Dunantul's Grand Finale (Nike)

Hi Pups and Friends:  I just wanted to show you part of my yard where I like to play.  I spend lots of time listening to new noises like airplanes, tractors, chainsaws, leaf blowers, cars and people.  I don't bark, I just listen.  Mom likes that.  My Mom barks sometimes.  She thinks she needs to let everyone know if someone is on the road.  It's really nice outside...sunny, but a bit cold.  Mom and I play outside sometimes.  We play inside too...until mom tells us to "settle".
Here I am listening to my mom Windy bark at a lady walking on the road.  My human mom usually tells her "no bark" or "quiet."  I just listen and watch a lot.  I am growing fast now.  I know how to sit and stay now.  This helps my human mom feed me without spilling my food all over the floor because I put my feet in it.  I can't do that when I'm sitting.
I also go to Puppy Romper Room.  My next class is the first Monday in January.  I will try to learn to play with other funny looking dogs of all sizes.  I'm leaning my "down." now.

DUNANTUL'S INFIDEL DIVA ERSEBET

Hi:  My name is Zsoka.  I am Nike & Porter & Tucker & Maggie's sister.  I was the light pink collar puppy.  My human Dad had these pictures taken of me and I put them in the proper order.  So...I have some title names for you.  This picture is named "Step on it."  Get it?  How do you like my scarf?  My Dad bought it for me, I think, so I would fit in with the Christmas season.

Here is a close up shot of me.  Haven't I got a beautiful face?  I sat here with my chest puffed out.  Isn't that what calendar girls do?  My dad says I am pretty as a picture.  What do you think?

I'm told I look a lot like my mom when she was little.  I have that little lap of skin on my hind quarters like my mom had.  I like to pick up sticks and run in the woods.  My human Dad lives by the bay, so I spend lots of time on the water's edge.
My Dad thinks we should name this picture:
Tail Bent for Leather.  I think that has something to do with my activity level.  What do you think?
When I sit down my skin slips down too.  Isn't that funny?  Don't worry, I will grow into my skin soooo fast.  This is a really nice sit picture, don't you think?
I named this picture, "Leaf me Alone."  I don't really mean it though.  I love people, especially my Dad.  He is so nice to me, even when I chew a hole in his cashmere watch cap or his socks.  Maybe my Dad should have named me "Patches."  :)  Get it?  You will......

I hope to see more pictures of you guys too.

Love,  Zsoka.

PORTER - LITTERMATE TO NIKE

Hi:  My name is Porter.  I am just 8 or 9 weeks old here.  I love being held by beautiful women.  Yup...I'm a guy dog.
Well...look at that funny-looking thing.  It has four legs but is definitely the wrong color and something happened to its ears...way too short.  Somebody said it was a cat.  I like watching it.  However, it's good that it has its own space and I have mine.  We'll get to be friends sometime in the future, but I'm way too young to get into the mixed-species space, you know?
This is my favorite place...it is warm, it is friendly and it smells just right.  I'm really trying to keep my eyes open for my picture, but it's
                                way
                                          too
                                                  hard.  zzzzzzzzz
Look at me now!  I'm 11 weeks old and am I handsome or what?  Notice I have a new tag on my color.  It tells you who I am and where I belong.  I love living here, and I think my parents feel the same about themselves now that I've come along.

No...I don't have a big nose and small feet....silly.  I am looking up and you are looking down.  Look at my beautiful eyes.  I'm told they are just the right shape.  Pretty soon my parents will put my in a beauty contest...they call it conformation.  It's a shoe-in, don't you think.  Especially if I keep my eyes open and ears up.

That's it for now.  If you have a picture of my sister or brother, just send it to my mom's parents at weldon@bctonline.com.  They will post it on this blog for the world to see.

This was fun.  See you again real soon.

Love & Licks,
  Porter

MAKING MY OWN BED

I love soft blankets.  In fact I love them so much I decided to take all of them off the sectional and put them on the floor, together with the pillow.  There, that's about right, let's see...mmmm...cozy.  Wait, is that dad calling?  Oh no, he wants to put me in my kennel to sleep.  Well, maybe I can take a nap right here tomorrow.  I really miss my litter mates.  I hope you will send me a picture or two.  I'll post them right here for everyone to see.  OK?  Sweet Dreams............

WINDY WANTS TO SHOW OFF SOME PICTURES OF HER PUPPIES.  THEY ARE IN THEIR NEW HOMES NOW...AND THEY ARE DOING GREAT!

This is Nike. He stayed with Windy and her family. He is getting everyone trained very well and is such a lovely boy!

Rainbow colored collar female became Maggie, a lovely, smart girl pictured above and also below, with her fellow vizsla housemate.

This is Tucker ( Green colored collar) showing off what a smart boy he is.

What a very handsome  boy he is, Tucker.

Tucker, so cute,  asleep on a knee with his tongue sticking out.

Thank you owners for the great photos! Windy is so proud of all the pups.

Pups are really growing and enjoying the outdoors now too

We have been let out to play in the yard!! This is one of the girls striking a pose but we are all very lovely pups!

Inside, we have to check out everything! Hey what's over this wall?

When we do settle for a nap, we still like our warming mat and to cuddled close to each other.
We are dreaming of our next outside play time and lunch!

HERE WE ARE IN OUR PLAY PEN

We haven't written in a while, but we have been very busy.  Mom and Dad have wormed us once (that kept us busy for an entire day) and they are going to worm us again tomorrow.  We thought we had better write today before we have yard duty (get it?)  We are now eating three times a day, and our Vizsla Mom, Windy, is still feeding us a couple times a day too.  Mom is watching us pretty close to see who is getting fat and who isn't.  The less fat guys get to eat on Mom more often.  Us fat guys wonder if that is really fair.  What do you think?  Mom is also training us.  She won't put our food dish in the whelping box until we are all sitting.  We've all learned to sit now, but not necessarily at the same time.  When Mom puts the dish in the whelping box, we all get up at the same time and somehow one of us seems to get stuck under the dish.  We haven't figured out how to remedy that yet.  We've had our toenails trimmed three times now.  We will get our toenails done again tomorrow. We hope we will be able to go outside tomorrow, if the rain will ever stop for long enough.  We really like to run around out there.  I hope you like our picture. Notice Mr. Orange is sitting but just had to put his two front feet on the fence.  We think that is cheating. We tried hard to look at the camera.  This picture had more of us looking than any other.  We will post more pictures as time allows.  Hope you like us writing to you.  Give us a message and let us know.  Many licks,  Windy Puppy Group

Pups are almost 4 weeks old!

The pups are doing so well.    All tails and dewclaws are healed.  On Sunday I plan to start them on puppy chow because they are becoming so active I believe they need the extra calories.  Windy is happy to feed them, but in between times she wants to be with Ben and I.  She listens intently, and with the slightest whimper from the puppies, she rushes to their side.  Also, next week they will be wormed for the first time.

They are in their extended kennel area now that is in our heated garage.  We have pine chips on a large blue tarp in their kennel area.  They have all decided they like doing their business in the chips where I can easily keep it clean.  Their whelping box stays clean now, except for multi-day sweeping to remove the chips.  We chose pine chips for the kennel because it has no slivers.  The little rascals run all over in the chips, and check out their toys.  I will be adding more interesting objects for their inspection from time to time.  They are still handled many times a day, and go through their little exercise with ease.  They are all very outgoing and fun to watch.

Some of you may be able to come for a visit.

Please let me know ahead of time so we don’t overwhelm these little guys with visits back to back.    My email address is to the left on this blog page.

October 10 the Puppies get visitors

What a lucky puppy

Puppy group looking so peaceful

Pups are really growing up

The Pups at 11 Days of Age

3 of the 5 girls

The 3 boys

The whole litter at 11 days
The puppies are 11 days old!
Their eyes have not opened yet. They are responding nicely to touch, and have a voice that says..." I need my mom’s attention now." Already their personalities are beginning to show through. Some appear much more active than others, traveling from one side of the whelping box to the other. The red puppy heating pad keeps them warm day and night. We keep a radio on by them 24 hours a day. This helps them become accustomed to different voice tones and different sounds. I clean the puppy box several times a day by running the hand vacuum around the kennel and shuffling the puppies from one side to the other of the box. This seems to be "old hat" to them now. We keep towels in the bottom of the kennel for two reasons. 1) so they have good footing for moving around the kennel box, and 2) to absorb any moisture that might seep out of them or their mom. The towels are kept somewhat in tact by the puppy pad and the four corners of the whelping box guard rail. The Guard rail is used to keep their mom from trapping them behind her and the side of the box. The railings on this guard rail turn easily, should a puppy get caught between the guard rail and the side of the box. The puppy can just climb over the top and the railing turns to allow him to get his footing on the other side and roll right on over.
